Martin Fisher Foundation researcher awarded grant to tackle HIV stigma

Sonia Raffe, a registrar doctor at the Lawson Unit in Brighton, successfully applied to the British HIV Association on behalf of the Martin Fisher Foundation to develop and implement an HIV-associated stigma reduction tool. Unfortunately, people living with HIV continue to experience stigma and fear of discrimination when accessing healthcare services. Sonia will work with local community groups to develop a simple teaching tool to help healthcare staff better understand the needs of those living with HIV and to help them to care for them with confidence. If you are living with HIV and would be interested in attending a focus-group and sharing your experience of accessing health services, please email [email protected]. Participants will receive a £20 voucher in recognition of their contribution.
