What is HIV-stigma

HIV stigma is negative attitudes and beliefs about people with HIV. It is the prejudice that comes with labeling an individual as part of a group that is believed to be socially unacceptable. Stigma prevents people being open about their condition and inhibits the kind of open discussion that is needed to challenge society’s lack of knowledge and understanding about HIV.

One of the core values of The Martin Fisher Foundation is to tackle HIV-related stigma and develop strategies to get to #zeroHIVstigma
